CHECK OUT OUR GREAT INSTRUCTORS!

Ohmigosh! Rachel Eddy! Joe Newberry! Alice Gerrard! Jim Watson! And to spice things up, Catherine Alderman, Jim Roberts, and Bill Newton! Danny Gotham and Jon Shain are our inimitable leaders and the staff concert on Saturday night (friends and family are all welcome) should be amazing.

COST

Picknbow Music Camp is $275. Almost of all of this goes to pay our instructors as well as the facility rental. This year, you have the option to kick in $10 to help with other operating costs by paying $285. As always, your registration fee gets you all classes during the weekend and the instructor concert Saturday night. Scholarships that cover all or part of the cost of attending Picknbow are available; please contact us for more details.

If you’re interested in supporting the Picknbow community and our continued outreach to those who may not be able to afford camp, please contact us and join us in contributing to the scholarship fund!

REGISTRATION

Registration and payment can be done online on this website. Because of the venue size and to keep classes manageable, registration for Picknbow is limited. Please register and pay online to hold your spot.

LOCATION

Picknbow is held at the Old Murphey School, on the Shared Visions campus, in Durham, NC. Click here for a map. If you’re coming from out of town, please let us know and we can help you find a place to stay

WHAT TO BRING

You’ll want to bring snacks and beverages, lunch on Saturday and Sunday (or go out nearby). For comfort, plan to bring layers; it can be warm then cool and warm again. Other things to bring:

  • Any and all instruments that you play or want to learn how to play; there’s a piano on site and, if you’re interested in learning bass but don’t own one, there will probably be a spare that you can use.

  • Music accessories such as tuners, spare strings, capos, music stand, instrument stand, etc.

  • Notebook for taking notes in classes, folder/binder for handouts from instructors, pens/pencils.

  • Phone or other recording device (audio and/or video) and a charger, since capturing some of the classes can be helpful in your follow-up practices.

  • Lyrics with chords and songbooks for any music you might want to share or have others play and sing with you.

  • Food, beer and wine for your enjoyment

  • And of course, bring your love of music, enthusiasm, and learning!

WHAT WE PROVIDE ON-SITE

  • Sound system for the instructor and student concerts

  • Coffee, coffeemaker, cups, plates, plasticware, napkins. Feel free to bring some of these to donate for use during the weekend — we can always use more paper towels :-)

  • Refrigerators, microwave, oven

  • Copy machine

  • Basic office supplies - markers, paper clips, stapler, 3-hole punch, post-it notes
