WELCOME BACK!

We are thrilled to bring back the Great Guitar Camp and hope you’re just as excited as we are. Watch this space for more details as they become available!

COST

Great Guitar Camp is $275. This covers all instruction/classes during the weekend and the instructor concert Saturday night. Scholarships that cover all or part of the cost of attending Great Guitar Camp are available; please contact Danny Gotham for more details.

If you’re interested in supporting the Picknbow community and our continued outreach to those who may not be able to afford the camps, please contact Danny Gotham and join us in contributing to the scholarship fund!

COVID PRECAUTIONS FOR CAMP

  • All participants MUST follow these precautions in order to be allowed indoors at the Murphey School during the weekend

  • When you arrive on Friday evening, you must show proof of vaccination and all booster shots as well as a negative COVID test from the previous 48 hours. If you do not have proof of a negative COVID test, Dr. Matt Velkey will administer a rapid COVID test. Negative test means you can attend the camp, positive test means you’ll have to go home

  • When you are indoors at the Murphey School we strongly recommend you wear an N95, KN95, or other mask with high filtration rate. If you are wearing a cloth mask, please consider doubling up or wearing a surgical mask as an additional layer

  • If for any reason you leave camp to attend a different indoor function where there’s no vaccination or mask requirement, you MUST take rapid COVID test when you return to camp. Please let us know if you’ll be doing this and we will arrange for Matt to meet you when you’re back at camp and administer the test.

REGISTRATION

Because of the venue size and to keep classes manageable, registration for Great Guitar Camp is limited. Please register online and get your full payment in as soon as possible to hold your spot. Registration and payment must be submitted two weeks before camp begins.

LOCATION

Great Guitar Camp is held at the Old Murphey School, on the Shared Visions campus, in Durham, NC. Click here for a map.

WHAT TO BRING

You’ll want to bring snacks and beverages, lunch on Saturday and Sunday (or go out nearby), and a potluck dish+serving utensil for Saturday evening. For comfort, plan to bring layers; it can be warm then cool and warm again. Other things to bring:

  • Music accessories such as capos, tuners, guitar slides, spare strings, music stand, instrument stand, etc.

  • Notebook for taking notes in classes, folder/binder for handouts from instructors, pens/pencils.

  • Bring your phone or another recording device (audio and/or video) and a charger, since capturing some of the classes can be helpful in your follow-up practices.

  • Lyrics with chords and songbooks for any music you might want to share or have others play and sing with you.

  • For Saturday evening potluck, instructor concert, and Sunday’s camper performances, invite your friends and family! The potluck and instructor concert are one of the best parts of the weekend! <3

  • Beer and wine for your enjoyment or to share at any time during the weekend.

  • And of course, bring your love of music, your enthusiasm, and your love of learning!
